📚 Book Review: Gidi Christmas
⭐ Rating: ★★★★☆Each time I pick up a new Nigerian romance, I’m reminded of just how layered and entertaining these stories can be and Gidi Christmas did not disappoint.
Biodun’s life is already complicated from dodging her landlord, nursing a crush on her coworker Andrew, clinging to a prophecy about finding her husband at work, and holding tightly to the dream job she once quit everything for. Then, change comes in the form of a company merger, and with it… her past.
Enter Kunle the Yoruba demon from her youth. Once a playboy, now forced into responsibility after his mother’s health scare, Kunle is determined to prove he’s changed. But with the ghosts of a sex tape scandal from twelve years ago resurfacing, both Biodun and Kunle are dragged into a storm of social media crucifixion, family drama, and old wounds.
What I loved most was how the story balanced messy drama with genuine moments of warmth. Kunle’s fight to clear his name, his heartfelt proposal to Biodun, and the chemistry between them had me rooting for a second chance. The villains : Teslim and Nkem added tension, betrayal, and a reminder that sometimes the biggest enemies are closest to home.
And then there are the friends: Timi, Alex, Malik
the kind of circle you wish you had in real life. Their humor and loyalty brought light to the darker moments, and yes, there were scenes that made me smile like I had just won a lottery.
Gidi Christmas is a cocktail of love, scandal, family secrets, and redemption. If you enjoy Nigerian romances with heart, drama, and a sprinkle of festive spirit, this is one to add to your list.
